Instagram Now Open for Advertising
Instagram launched in 2010 and was bought by Facebook 18 months later for a whopping $1 billion. By the end of the month Instagram will have opened the platform to advertisers of all sizes in over 30 new markets such as Spain, Mexico and India. Previously Instagram videos, or insta-vids to the hip kids, have been restricted to 15 seconds long. This change will allow advertisers to take full advantage and make use of a full 30 second video.
According to Steve Hatch (the UK and Ireland director of Facebook) “one in every four minutes spent on the internet in the UK on your mobile is spent on Facebook or Instagram”. With such an invaluable space in the market, why wouldn’t advertisers make the most of this? Instagram is at a point where they are really open to exciting advertising opportunities – so jump on this bandwagon quickly!
