Android: Friends Furever

The most shared TV ad of 2015 goes to Android – Friends Furever. In the first three days on YouTube it brought in over 4 million views. It is now on over 21 million views, and over 4 million shares on Facebook.

To the naked eye, it’s a squee to unusual animal friendships – cat and ducklings, dog and dolphin, tiger and bear mirroring the Android tagline Be together. Not the same. Not such a coincidence really – this subtle dig to Apple’s monoculture ecosystem gives the middle finger to their simplistic marketing technique. Whatever the controversy, it makes a really sweet campaign.
