Restaurant Review… Kurobuta

salmon review

Scott Hallsworth, previously the head chef at Nobu has now opened his own mini chain of three restaurants named – Kurobuta. This pan-Asian/Australian spot has just brought out a brand new 5 course taster menu. It is open to the public in 3 weeks, but if you’re lucky enough to have a Nudge membership like one of our team, you’ve got unlimited access from now until 6th April. The offer itself is £28 per person including a welcome cocktail, 5 course taster menu and a nightcap. All cocktails are £5 (rather than the normal £10-12) and bottles of house wine are £15.

The restaurant in question was on the top floor of Harvey Nichols, Knightsbridge. The venue itself was dark and intimate, a world away from a busy department store. Of all the courses, the third really stood out: wasabi flavoured roe on a pan fried fillet of salmon with crispy skin, upon a risotto style bed.

The value for money is definitely the strongest point of this experience, if you were to dine normally it is likely to cost you over double the amount. The food and range of dishes on offer was incredible and the service was attentive.

Adding wasabi was a great twist to the roe bringing out more flavour and complimented the rest of the dish well. One thing that sets Kurobuta apart is the presence of a photo booth to play around in after your nightcap, meaning everyone had some gems to take home.  This is definitely an offer not to miss and even without a Nudge membership, what’s better to do on a Tuesday night!?
