Twerking For Hits
Miley Cyrus would love to claim she was the Queen of twerking, but step aside Miley, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj as it turns out twerking can be traced back as far as the 1820! So what actually is twerking? Well, according to the Oxford English Dictionary (they’re much more reliable that Wikipedia) twerking is dancing “in a sexually provocative manner, using thrusting movements of the bottom and hips while in a low squatting stance”.
It seems twerking is the “in” thing of the moment. Nicki Minaj’s music video for Anaconda back in 2014 currently has just over 575 million views. Then, there’s this little piggy (scroll above) with nearly 37 million views of him twerking to Rihanna’s Work. So we knew it wouldn’t be long until we saw twerking animals in advertising.
Enter Hindquarters.com, a relatively unheard of luxury dog accessory brand have launched with a surreal online campaign of twerking dogs in a popular music video style (scroll above). If Nicki Minaj and our piglet are anything to go by we should be seeing a lot more of Hindquarters’ dogs bottoms!
