For those of you who have downloaded the new Internet Explorer 8, you may have seen the many accerlators and plugins available to enhance your website browsing experience. I particularly like the CoolIris plugin for viewing image sets, whether that be on google, facebook, flickr or any other image library. Try it here...

Faster, smarter and more secure; Internet Explorer 8

by graemeb 20. March 2009 15:08

Some industry pundits are calling this the most significant upgrade to Internet Explorer since 1997, when IE4 was released.

Its new features include faster page rendering, built in security, enhancements to privacy such as InPrivate, smart search and intuitive address bar. It doesn’t stop there though, the accelerator feature provides a new way to interact with web content, as does the web slices feature allowing users to be updated when content changes on their favourite sites. The list goes on, so you see why people are calling this a massive leap forward in how we will be interacting with the web in the future.

What does this mean for websites? Well, IE8 certainly looks set to revolutionise the way we can interact with website content and in fact how websites themselves are built.

One last thing, from a developer point of view, the inclusion of a compatibility mode is music to their ears. When IE7 was launched, the number of older websites adversely affected by the new browser was staggering.

Music, DJ'ing and bedroom furniture

by graemeb 23. January 2009 16:52

IKEA like to stay at the forefront of how to harness the web to great effect. This a great example of how music can play a meaningful part on a website. See what sort of tunes you can master...

A funny take on a great advert for Barclaycard - shame there was no water in the skip. Anyone know the city used in the original?
