Matt Stuart - Look Both Ways Show
by markr
3. February 2010 13:57

Matt Stuart’s work features opportune street scenes which reflect the absurd and fleeting nature of life. How many times have you seen something, wished you had your camera only for the moment to instantly pass? Armed with a small Leica camera, patience and lots of optimism, Stuart captures those moments where others fail.

Stuart’s photographs are a series of happy accidents taking place in crowds, on the tube, in the park and in cars. Stuart obsessively shoots everyday, everywhere he goes. The result of this passion and his fascination with people and the way they live their lives will be shown as a collection at KK Outlet for the first time. Some images are so absurd they almost look staged, but these are totally genuine and original, all caught by the masterful eye of Stuart.

Look Both Ways opens with a private view on Thursday 4th February, at the KK Outlet in Hoxton Square. The exhibition will run until the 26th February.

Wear It With Pride is an ongoing creative collaborative project, which works with some of the most talented and internationally renowned Illustrators, Designers and Photographers. To coincide with the relaunch of their website, they have asked some leading international artists to submit original pieces of work to be sold on the site; These are one offs and exclusive to the WIWP site (excluding the Dan Baldwin vase).
For 'phase one' they have invited Wilfrid Wood, Hellovon, type designer and typographic illustrator Seb Lester, David Bray, Mr Bingo, Dan Baldwin, Pomme Chan and Kristian Hammerstad.
These pieces range from sculptures to sketches and start as low as £100+PP. These new works have been added to the list of originals already gracing the WIWP site, including pieces from past exhibitions by the likes of Rankin, Mr Ian Wright, Dalek, Pure Evil and More.
Some beautiful posters and originals from some very talented people.

A new exhibition entitled "Less Is More - The Design Ethos of Dieter Rams" opened on the 18th of November at The Design Museum here in London. Dieter Rams was head of design at Braun, the German consumer electronics manufacturer, and emerged as one of the most influential industrial designers of the late 20th century by defining an elegant, legible, yet rigorous visual language for its products. The exhibition will showcase Rams’ landmark designs for Braun and furniture manufacturer Vitsœ, examine how Rams’ design ethos inspired Braun’s entire product range for over 40 years, and assess his lasting influence on today’s design landscape.

Top row: Dieter Rams and some of the products he designed for Braun in the 60's.
Bottom row: Johnathan Ive's work for Apple.

Good design is thorough down to the last detail.
Good design is environmentally friendly
