Now that brands have started to get on top of the Web 2.0 buzz, guess what
... it’s time to start thinking about Web 3.0. Lots of people cringe in
disgust at the term but actually I think it’s a neat way of packing up the next
big thing(s) that are going to be happening in the online world. So what
could Web 3.0 be about, well let’s start at the beginning:
Web 1.0 = Static pages of content - read only
Web 2.0 = User participation - read and write
Web 3.0 = The intelligent web
The theory is that there is so much data being added to the web at present that the next stage will be to mine that data so that the web appears to be intelligent. The key aspect to this is the Semantic Web which can simply be described as the web understanding the context of content.
