Since Google paid $1.65m for YouTube, they have been struggling to make money out of it. One of the reasons is that 99.99% of all user generated content on the site is simply not worth watching. A start-up called www.hulu.com already looks as though it will draw level in profit terms with YouTube by the end of next year. Hulu only shows professionally made TV shows and movies and although YouTube executives argue their real opportunity lies in making money from the massive audience generated content, they have also stepped up efforts to bring in more professional, higher quality content.
