Obama does it. So does Stephen Fry. Indeed, even the educated do it. They all twitter, and many are reaping financial rewards from micro-blogging. Robert Mackintosh, managing director of wine merchant's Thirst for Wine, has already seen the light: he holds virtual wine tasting sessions and to date he has some 400 followers. The wine is sent to each blogger by Royal Mail and a time is agreed upon to discuss it. While this does not generate revenue per se (remember there's no advertising on Twitter) it nonetheless does much to strengthen his brand by making real contact with his customers.
