'Save the pub' campaign

The "Axe The Beer Tax" campaign brings together all those with an interest in saving the British pub as this great British tradition is under threat. The campaign, run by the British Beer and Pub Association and the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), is highlighting the plight of the British pub and is urging Government to take action to prevent pub closures and job losses.

A third of a price of a British pint now goes in tax. Beer sales in pubs are already at their lowest levels in nearly 40 years and pub closures have accelerated to a rate of five a day.

The "Axe the Beer Tax - Save the Pub" campaign recently hit a significant milestone, securing the support of over 10,000 people on the social networking site Facebook - just 2 weeks after it was launched!

The campaign has also had over 6,000 people sign up to lobby their Member of Parliament via the official website, many of which are now supporting the campaign in Parliament.

Supporters from all over the brewing industry have joined together to support the Axe the Beer Tax ‘save the pub’ campaign. Support from breweries up and down the country including our own brewery client, Shepherd Neame. You can find out more by visiting www.axebeertax.co.uk
