Shock revelation, Marks and Spencers charges £2 extra for bras in sizes DD and above. The Sun newspaper isn't happy and has been campaigning for them to align their prices. Today was a victory for the Sun, headline DD-Day.
Good old M&S has not only conceded but have run an ad with the headline " We boobed. We were wrong, so as of Saturday the storm in a D Cup is over". It's very Sun readery and I think makes M&S look pretty good. They have acknowledged the issue and backed down with a degree of contrition and humour.
Saying sorry for brands is a tricky business and this is an example of how to do it well. Which brings me on to the Evening Standard's latest campaign, headline " Sorry": I may have got this wrong but it seems to be apologising for having been a not very good newspaper. This may or may not be true but if it is, I for one would like my money back for the last 10 years of reading it. I am delighted that they are planning to improve the paper but did they really need to say "Sorry" for the past.
